Injection at 160–200 °C — thermal degradation releasing HCl above 210 °C. Mould at 20–60 °C. Material corrosive to moulds → stainless or heat-treated steels. Low shrinkage (0.2–0.6 %).
PVC (code 3) is mechanically recyclable. Specialised channels exist for window profiles (the VinylPlus programme in Europe). The presence of additives complicates recycling.
Plasticised flexible PVC is not recommended for food contact (phthalates). Rigid PVC grades without phthalates may be compliant for certain applications. Prefer PP or PE for food applications.
