PA6 is resistant to mineral oils, greases, fuels and aliphatic solvents. It is sensitive to strong acids and concentrated bases. Water absorption alters its mechanical properties (plasticisation). It is incompatible with strong oxidising agents.

Injection at 230–270 °C, mould at 60–100 °C. Pre-drying required: 4–6 hours at 80 °C. Highly hygroscopic; vacuum storage recommended. Shrinkage varies depending on humidity (0.8–2.5% by weight). Fills complex moulds well.
PA6 is recyclable (code 7). Depolymerisation enables the recovery of caprolactam. Mechanical recycling is widely practiced in the automotive and textile industries.
PA6 grades are approved for food contact (FDA, EU regulation). Avoid contact with highly acidic or alcoholic foods. Check the specific grade.
