GF grades require higher injection pressures. Strongly anisotropic shrinkage (perpendicular to fibres > along axis). Increased nozzle and mould wear — nitrided steels recommended. Drying identical to base grade.
PP (code 5) is recyclable. Recycling streams exist for food packaging, the automotive industry, and general industry. The quality of recycled pellets is sufficient for many applications.
PP is among the most widely used food contact materials (FDA, EU Regulation 10/2011). Approved for all types of food including fatty and acidic foods. Resistant to steam sterilisation (PP random copolymer).
