widely used for technical parts, rigid containers, caps, tubes, and tanks

Chemical resistance

In contrast, HDPE is not recommended when exposed to strong oxidizing agents, particularly nitric acid, fuming sulfuric acid, and halogens. As always, thickness, stressed areas, processing quality, and actual service conditions strongly influence the final performance of the part; therefore, testing under usage conditions remains the best validation.

Recommended applications

  • Food and household packaging, water and gas pipes, tanks and containers, packaging films, geomembranes, toys, laboratory equipment, chemical containers, caps, cable sheathing

Frequently asked questions

Introduction

The HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is a subject thermoplastic A technique renowned for its robustness, lightness, very good chemical resistance, and very low water absorption. It is particularly suitable for the manufacture of rigid containers, injection-moulded parts, tubes, stoppers, and components exposed to humidity or common chemicals.

HDPE is easily transformed, generally does not require pre-drying in injection moulding, and benefits from excellent recyclability, particularly within the sector. Code 02.

However, for food-contact applications, a grade specifically complying with applicable regulations and accompanied by its conformity documentation should be selected.
