The PP exhibits excellent resistance to acids, bases (even concentrated), alcohols, and polar solvents. Sensitive to hot aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Can be used in an autoclave (steam sterilisation for special grades). Not suitable for ozone.

Les grades GF requièrent des pressions d'injection plus élevées. Retrait fortement anisotrope (perpendiculaire aux fibres > dans l'axe). Usure des buses et moules accrue — aciers nitrurés recommandés. Séchage identique au grade de base.
PP (code 5) is recyclable. Recycling streams exist for food packaging, the automotive industry, and general industry. The quality of recycled pellets is sufficient for many applications.
PP is among the most widely used food contact materials (FDA, EU Regulation 10/2011). Approved for all types of food including fatty and acidic foods. Resistant to steam sterilisation (PP random copolymer).
