Le PET présente une bonne résistance aux acides dilués, alcools et huiles minérales à T° ambiante. Sensible à l'hydrolyse en milieu acide ou basique à chaud. Dégradation progressive par les UV sans stabilisants. Le PETG est plus résistant au stress-cracking chimique.
